The publisher of our cookbook sent me this link today, and I’m so honored! TimeOut named Trap Kitchen: Bangin’ Recipes From Compton in their list of best cookbooks that came out of Los Angeles in 2018. You can check out the full list here, but I also took screenshots and pasted their review below just in case!
Straight off of a flight from the Bay, NEF The Pharaoh dropped by Hot 97 last week to talk to Peter Rosenberg for Real Late.
In town for the NYC stop of G-Eazy’s Endless Summer tour with Logic, YG and Yo Gotti, Neffy discussed his upcoming album, revealed his unique writing process, schools Rosenberg on the Bay Area slang and more. Check out the interview below.
Every so often I stumble upon some really dope music, and 21-year-old Oakland rapper Kamaiyah has definitely caught my attention. I’ve been hearing her songs “How Does It Feel,” “Swing My Way” and “I’m On” on fellow Bay native NEF The Pharaoh‘s Snapchat lately and was really feeling them. Unfortunately, I had no idea whose songs they were.
Fast forward to SXSW, I ran into Kamaiyah and her manager Brandon (who I know because he also manages YG,) and I put 2 and 2 together after she handed me a USB with her debut project, A Good Night In The Ghetto. Artists, take note – the USB was in the shape of an old school cell phone, and was by far the most memorable one in the sea of CDs and USBs given to me by musicians during my trip!
A Good Night In The Ghetto is minimal on features, but it does include YG, her Big Money Gang crew and Netta Brielle. Stream the project below!
Exactly one month from today, Ty Dolla $ign will FINALLY be dropping his debut album, Free TC. It’s been quite a long time coming, so naturally, he has recorded a TON of music that just didn’t make the cut for the project. So as an appetizer for the fans, Ty served up a 10-track mixtape today!
Airplane Mode doesn’t have any features, but includes production from DJ Mustard, Mike WiLL Made It, Sonny Digital and more – including Ty himself (as part of his production group, D.R.U.G.S.) Stream and download the project below, and pre-order Free TC on iTunes now!
The L.A. Leakers drop their next round of draft picks for the new year! Every year, the premier West Coast outlet for new music releases a project packed with their favorite up-and-coming talents. These artists have been gaining quite a buzz for themselves recently in the underground blogosphere, and now we have the L.A. Leakers‘ official 2015 starters.
Hosted by Power 106 L.A.’s Justin Credible, DJ SourMilk and Fuzz Fantab, the mixtape has features from indie and industry heavyweights like Chinx Drugz, Troy Ave, Chase N. Cashe, Young Lito, Stalley, Kevin McCall, and Rayven Justice.
Production credits for the 21-track mixtape include Boi-1da, whose “Check At” single with Two-9 was trending in Atlanta today, among many others. We also have some favorites that made this year’s draft, like Pia Mia, Los, and Bas (who was super cool when I met him at last year’s Made In America fest!).
Check out and download the L.A. Leakers‘ 2015 Draft Picks below!
