Last night, Nightline aired an exclusive interview with Lil Wayne, that was put together over the last 3 years. Host Linsey Davis met up with Wayne all over the world – from a show in Amsterdam to his skatepark in Miami, and most recently, his NYC book signing of his prison memoir, Gone Til’ November.
While Davis and Wayne discussed topics up his alley – prison, weed, degrading lyrics – the topic then turned to Black Lives Matter (after Wayne said last month that he didn’t know racism still exists,) and well…it wasn’t good.
With a puzzled look on his face and almost an heir of arrogance, Wayne said:
“What is it? What do you mean? That just sounds weird, I don’t know that you put a name on. It’s not a name…It’s not ‘whatever, whatever.’ It’s somebody got shot by police for a f***ed up reason. I am a young black rich motherf***er, if that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf***ers matters these days I don’t know what it is. That man white, he filming me I’m a ni**a. I don’t know what you don’t come to me with that dumb sh*t ma’am. My life matters, especially to my bi**hes.”
Man. Watch the full interview below. Footage of Tune getting the crowd to chant “Black Lives Matter” of a show has since surfaced, but does it sound sarcastic? Check it out and let us know!
Waka Flocka got his career started with the help of Gucci Mane, coming in under him back in 2009. Since then, however, tensions have gotten the best of them. The pair haven’t been in a good space for some time, but some assumed that they could have patched it up while Gucci was behind bars and making all of these life changes recently. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Waka was absent from Gucci‘s Gucci Mane & Friends concert last weekend, prompting fans to ask him about it while he was doing a Reddit Q&A:
After many years together, Waka Flocka and Tammy Rivera have called it quits on their marriage. There are rumors going around that infidelity on Waka‘s end was the cause, namely with one of Chief Keef‘s [many] baby mamas, Simone Patton. However, both Waka and Tammy deny those claims.
“To keep it all gangsta, me and Tammy just split apart,” Waka said on Snapchat. “Nobody cheated on nobody, nobody’s mad at nobody… We just grew to our differences.”
Check out posts from both Tammy and Waka below. It seems like a really amicable split, so hopefully it stays that way!
This week, we celebrated 4/20 and mourned the death of the legendary Prince, so there are plenty of smoking songs and Prince tributes from some of our favorite artists below.
There’s also my guy Skipper‘s new single “Realest In The Buildin” with Kool John (which you can cop on iTunes here,) Post Malone‘s new single and more.
Waka Flocka had a bit of turn up over the weekend. 4/20 may be tomorrow, but who says you can’t celebrate a little early?
Waka was in Seattle for a performance at Dope Cup, an annual event featuring live performances, a showcase of medical and recreational marijuana and more. A photo was uploaded to Instagram of Waka being hauled into an ambulance after smoking at least 20 blunts and consuming several edibles.
While it’s not possible to overdose on weed meant for smoking, it is still a drug worthy of respect in regards to edible quantities consumed. Due to the delayed high, too much edible ganja can make you throw up, get a really bad headache/stomach ache, or if you’re lucky you’ll just pass out and wake up hungry and thirsty, with a slight woozy feeling. Seriously though, he should know better.
I haven’t given you guys a new music update in a little bit, so there’s PLENTY to get into.
Below, you’ll find A$AP Ferg‘s new banger with Missy Elliott, Fabolous and iLoveMakonnen‘s respective tributes to Kobe Bryant, G-Eazy‘s tribute to the Warriors, Kid Cudi‘s new Mike WiLL-produced single and much more. Shout to newcomer Kay Cola, whose new song “Maxed Out” caught my attention and is included below as well!
Lil Yachty and Rich The Kid will be releasing a joint mixtape on April 1 titled Lil Boat and the Goat. Off the project, the pair release its first offering, “We Got It.”
Check out the track below, plus an extended version of TLOP‘s “Ultralight Beam” that Ye just dropped, Wiz Khalifa‘s remix of ATCQ‘s “Electric Relaxation,” Chris Brown‘s remix of 50 Cent‘s “I’m The Man” and much more.
