TIP has been one of hip hop’s most vocal advocates for Black Lives Matter and the fight against racism and police brutality. His latest EP Us or Else, served as a soundtrack to the protests held around the country, while the artist encouraged the country to get out and vote on November 8.
In the wake of Trump‘s election on Wednesday, thousands of protesters took to the streets of New York City, including TIP. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, he said that he happened to be recording at a studio not far from where protestors began gathering and decided to walk over.
He mentioned a few people recognized him and rather than fanning out, they thanked him for joining the cause. While TIP realizes that the damage of the election has been done, it’s still important to set an example.
Love was certainly in the air yesterday, as not one but three celeb couples celebrated their love-making with baby showers all across the country.
While Draya and Orlando celebrated the forthcoming arrival of their first son together at a beautiful bash in Los Angeles (with a random appearance by Wale,) John Legend and Chrissy Teigen looked forward to their daughter’s arrival with a party in NYC, while T.I. and Tiny did the same with one in Atlanta. Former Love & Hip-Hop star Nya Lee also had a baby shower yesterday (with a poorly-executed Coming To America theme,) but she’s not really that important so here’s her honorable mention.
Check out pics from all of the showers below!
T.I. isn’t playing games this year. Fresh off his announcement of new deals with Roc Nation and TIDAL, Tip has announced another big power play: he’s scored a residency at Drai’s in Las Vegas.
The residency kicks off March 5 at The Cromwell, and will continue on April 8, May 6, June 10 and July 8.
A statement from Drai’s Enterprises President, Michael Gruber:
Last night, T.I. held a big concert in ATL, that was streamed through the TIDAL app. It’s fitting then that just moments before his performance, the rapper announced he’d signed a distribution deal with Roc Nation for his tenth studio album, and that he’d become the 19th artist-owner at TIDAL. (He joins the likes of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Kanye West and more.)
Tip left Columbia Records last year, despite much fanfare about his signing with the label the year prior. He is expected to release Dime Trap later this year. The project’s first single, “Money Talk,” is available to stream now via TIDAL.
Atlanta-based jewelry company Aydin & Co. has filed a lawsuit against their customer T.I. for a cool $700k. The company says they’ve made many pieces for Tip over the course of the last 10 years – most recently a 18.5 karat white gold bracelet and a yellow gold rosary in 2014 – and he hasn’t paid in full on anything.
Congrats to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who have announced that they’re expecting a little girl!
We’ve known of Chrissy‘s pregnancy for about two months now, but the supermodel revealed the baby’s gender quite casually as she shared her new cover of Vogue Thailand. Check out the announcement below, plus news from Tip and Tiny!
DJ Carisma is doing her thing on the west coast scene, and she’s about to take it global with her new single, “Til The Morning.” Teaming Chris Brown up with DeJ Loaf over production from herself and The Featherstones, it sounds like our girl has a hit on her hands!
Bryson Tiller is certainly one of the breakout artists of the year, and despite his recently-released T R A P S O U L album still remaining in the top 20 on the Billboard 200, he’s releasing even more music for the fans with “Self Righteous.”
Listen to these tracks below, plus new cuts from the OVO roster from both Majid Jordan and P. Reign (alongside Tip and Young Thug) and more!
