A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie scored big with his debut album, The Bigger Artist. The project debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200, selling a solid 67k units in its first week! The reviews have been really good for the album too, so I have a feeling this will stay in the top 10 for a while!
Elsewhere on the chart, Tank, Rittz, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Smokepurpp all made their debuts as well, but none came even close to A Boogie‘s success. Tank‘s new album Savage debuted at number 39 with 13k, Smokepupp‘s Deadstar came in at number 42 with nearly 13k, Rittz‘s Last Call came in at number 43 with 12k and worst of all – PND‘s Seven Days EP came in at number 82 with just 8k units. Not sure what that’s about!
Looking ahead to next week, Lil Pump is set to make his chart debut with his self-titled debut album. Currently, the project is predicted to sell around 35-40k, which will likely land him in the top 10. In the meantime, check out this week’s top 10 below!
Iggy Azalea took 2015 to get herself together, but now that the new year has started, so has the road to her sophomore album. “Azillion” is the first release for the Australian raptress, debuting to mixed reviews over the weekend. The electro beat sounds like a mix of things we’ve heard before, and her lyrics are…interesting…but it’s not awful. Digital Distortion is due out later this year.
It appears that DJ Mustard has a new project on the way this year as well. He hasn’t released a full album since 2014’s 10 Summers, but his new single with Travi$ Scott seems to hint toward another one on the way. “Whole Lotta Lovin” should definitely bang in the clubs this winter!
These tracks below, plus a previously-unreleased Dr. Dre song that he premiered on his Beats1 radio show over the weekend, featuring T.I., Justus, Victoria Monét and Sly Piper, a new track from Tank with Chris Brown and Sage The Gemini and much more.
It looks as if R&B supergroup TGT is no more, and if you let Tyrese tell it, the ‘G‘ is at fault. Taking to Instagram last night, Tyrese announced the group’s disbandment, and in so many words, placed the blame on Ginuwine.
“I’m sorry to break the news… TGT is done…. It’s not about fault… Business is business… Me and Tank are still movin…. We will forever love our brother G as brothers… We’ve got TOO much history to turn this into anything negative… Even 112 are still together, NEXT, DRU HILL is still together and TROOP and New Edition… It’s only 3 of us we did one album it was epic… And now it’s over… We have been forced to start looking into someone else… Or me and T just might do it solo… The reason it worked is because of our history and mutual respect… I don’t know I’m just shocked and disappointed that I’m even putting up this post… #ThreeKingsNoMore but I guess…. #LSG only made one album.. Damn..”
Something real must have went down behind-the-scenes! Ginuwine wasn’t going to take the slander and just roll with it, though, and quickly responded with a post of his own:
Singer Tank was driving while happily chatting away on his cell phone in L.A. yesterday, and considering that this is illegal, was consequently pulled over by LAPD. He’d have likely gotten a ticket and went along his merry way, but according to reports, refused to show his drivers license, so he was arrested and booked for failure to obey an officer.
He was released from jail a short time later, and headed home with his friends. Good times.
