As expected, JAY-Z‘s 4:44 debuted at number one the Billboard 200, after it was released on all streaming platforms following its exclusive one week TIDAL release. (The TIDAL release did not count toward Billboard.) The album sold 174k units, and makes for Hov‘s 14th number one! This now makes him the record holder for solo artist with the most number one albums in the history of Billboard!
Had Hov not dropped, 21 Savage‘s Issa Album would have debuted at number one. Instead, it comes in at number two with a super solid 77k! Issa hit! Outside of the top 10, Sevyn Streeter‘s new album Girl Disrupted had an extremely dismal debut at number 92. Sheesh.
Looking ahead to next week, French Montana‘s Jungle Rules is on pace to sell around 45-50k, which should give him a top 5 debut. In the meantime, check out this week’s top 10 below!
Sevyn Streeter was tapped to sing the National Anthem at tonight’s 76ers home opener vs. the Oklahoma Thunder. Unfortunately, she never made it to the stage.
According to a video Sevyn posted from backstage, the organization decided to ax her performance because of her “We Matter” jersey. How pathetic. The 76ers soon released a statement, saying:
“We use our games to bring people together, to build trust and to strengthen our communities. As we move from symbolic gestures to action, we will continue to leverage our platform to positively impact our community.”
I’m so disappointed! Check out what Sevyn had to say below, as well as today’s biggest stories.
Shot last month in L.A., YG drops the visual to his Still Brazy single, “Why You Always Hatin?” The track features Drake and newcomer Kamaiyah, and shows the trio living lavishly as they turn up through the streets of the City of Angels. (I had the pleasure of stopping by the set while they were shooting too – good times!)
Check out these visuals below, plus new videos from DJ Esco and Future, Tinashe, Young Thug and Travi$ Scott with Quavo and more.
Last week, singer Sevyn Streeter quoted some interesting lyrics on Twitter:
“You never really know what you got till its gone…you Shoulda been there now she singing this song…”
The words were from her boyfriend B.o.B.‘s verse on their collab “Shoulda Been There,” so it’s possible she was just enjoying the music they made together…or she had a subliminal message for him. Judging by some social media activity last night, it appears it was the latter!
SO much music was released this weekend, but I’m going to catch you guys all up now!
From Pusha T to DeJ Loaf, Sevyn Streeter to Chris Brown, Logic to Rich Homie Quan and so many more, TONS of our faves dropped some new heat for your iTunes collection, and you can get it all below.
Even though Valentine’s Day was kind of cancelled on the lowest of keys due to All-Star Weekend and New York Fashion Week, our favorite celebs still managed to squeeze in some time to celebrate their love.
From Chris Brown and Karrueche‘s heartfelt Instagram dedications (though they weren’t together since Breezy was on tour and Kae was at NYFW,) to a possible coupling with Ace Hood and Angela Simmons (random!), Joe Budden tying my shoe like the gentleman that he is, Omeeka sitting courtside, Rih‘s anti-love tribute and more, check out LIT‘s 2015 Valentine’s Day round-up below!
Sevyn Streeter lives it up alongside Chris Brown in the visual to “Don’t Kill The Fun,” the first single off her forthcoming debut album. Keeping it colorful and playful, the Breezy-directed video takes the pair through the streets in a dope Lambo to a turnt up party, while showing off the moves that Sevyn has as well.
