Nicki Minaj, Igga Azalea and hopefully soon Remy Ma are making their way up the charts, and although they are often pitted against each other, it’s a blessing and very rare in hip-hop to have more than one relevant “femcee.” After Remy was released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York earlier this week, she went straight to the studio to work on what was originally purported (by the media) to be a diss track to Nicki and Iggy, a remix to DJ Khaled‘s “They Don’t Love You No More.” She later went on to clarify that it certainly was no diss, and that she’d actually like to work with both of the ladies on a future release. Great, one flame put out…but a new one sparked up the very next day.
Hitting the clubs and a Guy Court taping with my new homie MGK, YMCMB private dinner at Philippe Chow, Drake’s private dinner at Philippe Chow, Diddy’s party at DREAM, 2 Chainz listening session for B.O.A.T.S II, house party with Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj randomly throwing up a throwback of us and more! Tune kicked off the second leg of his I Am Music tour in Providence, RI, so Karen and I drove out and hung out backstage with the guys. I also got a video of Nicki Minaj‘s lapdance, which you can watch below! Continue Reading →
Went to Miami for Superbowl and hit the studio with French Montana and T-Pain, assisted Jae Millz for a few months so did some cool stuff, got my song on HipHopDX (listen here!), made a random video lipsyncing to Nicki Minaj‘s “Bottoms Up” that went viral (watch below), dropped by Angela Yee‘s show on Shade 45 a few times and hit a few clubs and concerts with some cool people. I hit a couple stops on Lil Wayne’s Amerika’s Most Wanted Tour, including the kickoff (on my birthday!) on 7/27 in Scranton, PA. (Sadly I didn’t see any landmarks from The Office, LOL.)
Fun fact: Backstage at the Scranton stop, Tyga’s BFF/hypeman Trell was freaking the f*ck out because it was his first time ever outside of his Cali hometown. Meanwhile, Amber Rose was inviting all of us to her birthday party, LOL.
Another fun fact: I brought French with me to the Long Island stop. The kids freaked out at the hotel afterward when they met Nicki Minaj and they asked for her autograph, and because French had a big chain and just looked like a rapper, they got his autograph too. Pretty sure they didn’t know him. LOL!
In April 2009, I helped Mizay Ent. coordinate Nicki Minaj’s press run for her new mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty. We’d connected when I interviewed Nicki for AllHipHop.com, and they’d reached back out when Nick had to come to NYC for press – as the firm is Atlanta based.
I made a lot of good friends over the course of these few days from the stops we made including Rahim the Dream (at Vlad TV at the time), Lowkey and Andreas Hale (at BET at the time) and Shaheem Reid and Rahman Dukes (at MTV at the time.) Continue Reading →
