In late October, Karen called me and told me she was going to go to Vegas in a couple of weeks, because Wayne would be making his first post-prison appearance there as a surprise to Drake, whose tour was stopping there at the time.
Being new to IFWT and of course having love for the YMCMB guys, I had to join, and we made a fun little vacay out of it!
Wayne ran out and surprised Drake during “Miss Me” (and he really had no clue…the whole camp told him all day Weezy isn’t coming – and then he popped up! I knew all day though and it was KILLING me not to tweet it!) I caught a few surprise people backstage as well – Lisa Raye amongst them. Check out some footage and pics below! Continue Reading →
I hit a couple stops on Lil Wayne’s Amerika’s Most Wanted Tour, including the kickoff (on my birthday!) on 7/27 in Scranton, PA. (Sadly I didn’t see any landmarks from The Office, LOL.)
Fun fact: Backstage at the Scranton stop, Tyga’s BFF/hypeman Trell was freaking the f*ck out because it was his first time ever outside of his Cali hometown. Meanwhile, Amber Rose was inviting all of us to her birthday party, LOL.
Another fun fact: I brought French with me to the Long Island stop. The kids freaked out at the hotel afterward when they met Nicki Minaj and they asked for her autograph, and because French had a big chain and just looked like a rapper, they got his autograph too. Pretty sure they didn’t know him. LOL!
Lil Wayne headed out on the road with Keyshia Cole, T-Pain and a few others for the I AM Music Tour in late 2008. I attended the D.C., Baltimore and Memphis stops. (I just so happened to be in Memphis at the time for the 2009 SEA Awards.) Continue Reading →
This was my first published article online! Back in 2007, I used to post a lot on AllHipHop.com‘s message boards, the “Ill Community.” I befriended one of the mods, Odiesel, and in February 2008, he gave me an opportunity to review the Lil Wayne concert I was attending in NJ.
From there, I interviewed a lot of dope artists for the site, and forged friendships with the owner, Chuck Creekmur, as well as my now-mentor, Kathy Iandoli. Thanks, OD!
Filming a segment with Lil Cease, interviewing Mack Maine and Jae Millz for Culture Shock Mag after Wayne‘s NJ show plus a few other Wayne shows, Salt N’ Pepa‘s book release, meeting Charli Baltimore at an AllHipHop.com event, hitting Shade 45, a Hanson meet-and-greet at my school and Tyga‘s show in NJ.
