Kanye West wrote quite the riveting poem about McDonald’s for Frank Ocean‘s Boys Don’t Cry magazine. It was certainly one of the highlights of the publication, and has become one of the most talked about pieces on social media.
While visiting Megan Ryte yesterday, rapper Joey Bada$$ decided to throw some sauce on the poem, and read it aloud for the Hot 97 viewers. Watch out his hilarious performance below. Shakespearean.
Last month, New York rappers Joey Bada$$ and Troy Ave traded a few subliminals on Twitter, after Joey didn’t take too kindly to Troy‘s claims that his official first-week sales of 7,700 units as an independent artist was a huge deal. As Joey is independent as well, he tweeted the following:
“Reminder: Joey Bada$$ sold 57,000+ albums in his first week, INDEPENDENTLY… At 20 years old… $10/album… 85% of shares, do the math….That makes me the #1 Independent Hip Hop artist/brand in the world….”
Naturally, an exchange then ensued. Appearing on Hot 97‘s Ebro In The Morning this week to promote the first annual #STEEZday concert (in honor of the birthday of the late Capital STEEZ of Joey‘s Pro Era crew,) the Brooklyn emcee said the following:
Yesterday marked the 23rd annual Summer Jam concert from Hot 97, and another epic night for the record books! I was frazzled for a majority of the show because I signed up to work, and was assigned to handle all things Fetty Wap and Ty Dolla $ign…which sounded fun in theory, but DAMN it was a lot of work! Needless to say, I missed about 90% of things that happened – and that includes all that drama outside. My mother actually was texting me in a panic making sure I was okay, and I had to ask her what she was talking about because we were calmly sitting around sharing “deez nuts” jokes backstage at the time. LOL! It’s a shame a few bad apples attempted to spoil the whole bunch, but they ultimately didn’t – as the show went on inside without incident, and for the tens of thousands that did get in, it was an amazing time!
SO much went on behind-the-scenes and on the stage, so I’ll start from the beginning at the Festival Stage.
I hit up YG and A$AP Ferg‘s Best Coast Connection Tour in Philly, Club All Star in Jersey with Dave East, Nas and Funk Flex and Rae Sremmurd, Big KRIT and Joey Bada$$ stopped by Hot 97!
